Parc Bistro-Brasserie: a taste of Paris in Bankers Hill

I recently enjoyed a dining experience at Parc Bistro-Brasserie located on 5th Avenue in Bankers Hill.

My husband and I were transported to another world upon entry. The charming curb appeal+decor, soft lighting, and live music all set the stage for what would end up being an unforgettable evening.

Parc has an extensive wine list, which includes a sommelier section, so upon being sat at our table we left our selection in the capable hands of the owner, Garo Minassian, and were not disappointed. He recommended the Earthquake cabernet sauvignon, which was a bold red and paired beautifully with our meal.

Dinner began with a baby roasted beet salad which included caramelized goat cheese, Anjou pear, and arugula. Our next dish was one I had never tried before... escargot! Garlic, parsley, butter, and Pernod (an anise-flavored liqueur) all played a significant supporting role in this production. Our server spoke highly of the branzino and short rib bourguignon, so we ordered both for our entrees. The branzino just fell off the skin and was served with orzo, tomato, confit garlic, and olives. My favorite dish of the evening was the short rib bourguignon with crimini mushrooms, carrots, cipollini onions, and mashed potato. Braised for 18 hours, the meat was rich, tender, and defined comfort food. This is one of those dishes that will definitely keep us coming back.

Dessert was a chocolate lava cake, or as I would put it, dessert heaven. Warm, gooey chocolate goodness with vanilla ice cream melting on top.

We ended the evening with drinks at the elegant bar. I ordered the Parisian Dream, naturally. The french inspired cocktail consists of Uncle Val's botanical gin, yellow chartreuse, cucumber, basil, lime, and Peychauds bitters served in a coupe glass.

If it isn't already, Parc needs to be on your list. They can also host your next event as they have a private dining room with its own entrance in the event there are any VIPs in your inner circle! As the holiday season is upon us, this is a great venue for a company party or those large family gatherings. You can also check-out the happenings page to discover future events like their monthly wine dinners and live music schedule.

Au revoir!
